Career Coaching for Racialized Employees
We know that organizations that are serious about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI or EDI) work need to tackle structural changes. And this will take time.
While we applaud and work with them to achieve the desired changes, we strongly believe that racialized employees shouldn’t pay the price while organizations figure it out. We have designed this coaching employees’ program to address just that.

DEI Practitioners Coaching

The challenge for organizations
Organizations are struggling with the retention of DEI practitioners. The average chief diversity officer lasts less than two years in the role, according to executive recruiter Russell Reynolds Associates, and 60% of those who had such titles in 2018 have left — the majority for other fields. The average Chief Diversity Officer tenure is under two years. (Companies Face a Trust Gap on Efforts to Fight Racism – Bloomberg).
With this rate of turnover, it is impossible to keep the momentum required for systemic change to happen.
The challenges for practitioners
If you have a big, long title with the words Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in it, chances are you know that:
- The expectations are often unrealistic.
- You are often expected to create and hold space for people to share their pain, frustration and to have difficult conversations… while dealing with it yourself.
- You are fighting an uphill battle to gain trust. A study found that “just 18% of workers trust their diversity chief to tell truth”.
- The expression “lonely at the top” takes a whole new meaning. You hear and are exposed to a lot but virtually no one to confide in at work.
Our solution
Truth is, you know how emotionally taxing and isolating DEI work can be. We know! We have been there, and we hear it everyday from our clients, often on the verge of burnout.
The good news is it does not have to be this way. Let us be your DEI practitioners sounding board and coach them through it. We create a safe space where we listen to issues that they are facing, and through a series of coaching exercise, guide them to find the best solutions. It is a place to unpack the pressure, the emotional toll and to know that they are not alone in this.

Coaching is provided by a Certified Executive Coach, experienced executive, and DEI practitioner who led a diverse team of 12+ DEI practitioners in the public sector.

As organizations are at different stages of the journey and moving at different paces, we collaborate with you to identify your challenges and intended outcomes to provide you with custom solutions. Examples include facilitating your workshops, developing advisory tables, and developing and launching a train the trainers’ program etc. In short, our customs reform and trade facilitation consultant program can help you identify your pace and make the necessary changes.
